Rapper Twista has escaped prosecution following his arrest for marijuana possession. The Slow Jamz star, real name Carl Mitchell, was arrested in March (16) alongside two crewmembers and his driver, after police officers pulled over the Rolls Royce they were traveling in and found marijuana following a search of the vehicle.Twista, 42, had been on his way to a concert at the Big Shots nightclub in Valparaiso, Indiana, but had to cancel the show as he was held in custody until the early hours of the following day, when he posted $500 bail.
He and his companions pleaded not guilty to Class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana last month (Apr16), and Twista was due to stand trial in August (16).
However, prosecutors have since cut a deal with Twista and his fellow suspects, and three of the four cases, including the rapper´s, will be dismissed, after the driver claimed the pot was his. According to TMZ.com, he managed to dodge jail time and will instead just serve probation for the count.
The four men had previously faced up to 180 days in jail and up to $1,000 in fines if found guilty.
