The pre-formation added a bit of confusion on what was a very straightforward play. Needing two yards, the Wolverines came out with five linemen, three tight ends, a fullback, and a running back. It was pretty obvious they intended to run the ball up the gut. So they lined up 10-in-a-row, waited for a signal from QB Wilton Speight, and then split out, making the Badgers think for slightly longer than they should’ve had to.
Michigan ended up running the ball for five yards on 2nd-and-2 and scoring a play later.
