A host of top musicians including Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Laura Marling have penned short stories to raise funds for various children´s education charities.
The songwriters´ tales will appear in a book called Stories for Ways & Means, which Waxploitation Records founder Jeff Antebi has been collating for a decade.
Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon, Gary Numan, Alison Mosshart of The Kills, Frank Black of Pixies, Le Tigre´s Kathleen Hanna, and Gogol Bordello´s Eugene Hutz have also contributed original stories to the tome.
As well as the stories themselves there are also illustrations from a number of leading artists including Anthony Lister, Dan Baldwin and Will Barras.
A post on a specially created website promoting the book reads, "Ten years ago the founder of Waxploitation, Jeff Antebi, had an idea to ask his favorite music artists and favorite contemporary painters to come together and collaborate on original children´s stories for a benefit project. Today, 29 of those pairings make up the 350 page book project called Stories for Ways & Means."
Proceeds from the sale of the book will fund a number of educational charities around the world, helping to build schools and encourage literacy.
Some of the stories also have promotional films accompanying them, with narration from stars such as Zach Galifianakis, Danny DeVito, Nick Offerman and rapper Joey Bada$$.
Stories of Ways & Means is on sale now, with regular editions retailing at $98 and signed copies priced at $500 .
