Tom Jones often dreams his wife is still alive. The 76-year-old singer scrapped concerts and fell into a deep depression after Linda, his spouse of 59 years, lost her cancer battle in April (16). While Tom is getting his life back on track following the tragic loss, he is still struggling to come to terms with Linda´s passing, and often forgets that she is gone.
"I hear her voice. I see her a lot at night," he told the Sunday People newspaper. "When I dream that she´s still here and then I wake up and she´s not, that´s the hardest."
Five months after Linda´s death and the prospect of finding love with someone else couldn´t be further from Tom´s mind. Asked if he foresees a new relationship in the future, the singer replied: "I haven´t even thought about that - I really haven´t."
While Tom struggled to concentrate on his music career in the wake of Linda´s death, he has now managed to focus on his singing as a means of coping. However, there are certain tracks that Tom still struggles to perform, because of the meaning they have.
"It´s still hard. I didn´t know whether I´d be able to get up on stage and be emotional with songs, especially songs that she liked," he sighed. "But I can be and it´s lifted me up and she´s there."
Another challenge Tom has embarked on is his return to British TV show The Voice. Auditions for the talent show kicked off earlier this month (Oct16), with Tom joined on the panel by fellow returnee will.i.am as well as newcomers Gavin Rossdale and Jennifer Hudson.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper recently, Tom said: "The busier I am, the better I feel. The Voice is definitely part of that."
