Nile Rodgers Wants His Life Story Turned Into Stage Musical

Nile Rodgers is planning to create a stage musical based on his incredible life.
The musician has had a hand in some of the most popular tunes of the past four decades, finding fame with disco legends Chic, producing records for the likes of David Bowie, Mick Jagger, and Duran Duran, as well as recording with contemporary stars including Pharrell Williams and Avicii.
At the Q Awards in London on Wednesday (17Oct18), where Nile was receiving a Legend prize, a reporter for Britain´s Daily Express newspaper asked if he wanted his career turned into a film, and he replied that he had his eyes on a theater project instead.
"There could be but I have been turning everybody down," he explained. "I want to do a theatrical music version first. I don´t know who could play me but they´d have to be more talented than I am! It´s something we are floating at the moment."
In all, the 66-year-old has written, produced, and/or performed on records that have cumulatively sold more than 575 million copies worldwide.
The life of Tina Turner was recently adapted into a stage musical, which earned critical acclaim in London´s West End and is now set to transfer to Broadway, while other acts like ABBA and Queen have had their back catalogues turned into jukebox musicals featuring original characters and plots.
