Michael Jackson Accusers Discuss Abuse Claims In Powerful Oprah Winfrey Interview

Tue Mar 5, 2019 11:29AM
James Safechuck and Wade Robson have opened up about their claims against Michael Jackson in an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Following the broadcast of the final part of the Dan Reed-directed Leaving Neverland documentary on HBO on Monday (04Mar19), Jackson´s accusers sat down for a powerful interview to reflect on their experiences with the late singer.
In the film, it is alleged that Jackson groomed and sexually abused both men when they were young, sharing the bed with them and even conducting a mock wedding ceremony with 10-year-old Safechuck.
In light of their accusations, Winfrey admitted that she found parts of their narrative "hard to understand."
"If you were abused, why would you continue to want to be around the person?" she asked
Robson responded by highlighting that he had "no understanding" of the fact that he was being abused at the time and suggested that his affection for Jackson came from "a real place."
He went on to recall that the Thriller singer would tell him "I love you. God brought us together. And this is how we show our love," while Safechuck claimed the star warned him "If you (get) caught, if we´re caught, your life is over. My life is over," forcing him into secrecy.
Robson also suggested that Jackson´s childhood fame meant that people saw a different side to him, which he used to manipulate relationships with those around him.
"So, long before meeting him the first time, so much had been set up already," Robson added. "I was, and I think my mother and my whole family, was already surrendered before I ever met him."
